An Air India aircraft bound for London crashed today, shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, near the airport’s boundary, a structure identified as a doctor’s hostel was struck by the aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, resulting in a large fire and widespread fear. Of the 242 passengers on board Flight AI-171, 217 were adults and 11 were children, it had 169 Indian people, 53 British citizens, 7 Portuguese nationals, and 1 Canadian on its way to Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom.
Following the incident, the P.M said that everyone was “stunned and saddened.” The incident happened around 9 minutes after the aircraft was permitted to take off, and state officials have declared Ahmedabad’s SVPIA closed till further notice. Officials on the scene said the heavy smoke hindered rescue efforts, which are still underway.

Reason of crash is still unknown
Following an Air India flight that crashed Thursday close to the Ahmedabad airport, it is believed that all 242 people killed. The incident happened at 1:17 PM while the Air India flight, which was carrying 232 passengers and 10 staff members, was leaving for London. From Dharpur, close to the Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad, there was huge smoke. Emergency response teams have been mobilized, and the fire department are on the crash site, however till now the reason of the crash has not been confirmed by authorities.
